Poornima Karunacadacharan is personally and professionally committed to the promotion of equality and human rights. She has a BA in Peace Studies (University of Bradford), MSc in Development Studies (SOAS, University of London), and a Post Graduate Diploma in Law (Brunel University). She is a qualified Barrister (non-practicing) and was called to the Bar of England and Wales in October 2011.
Currently Poornima is employed at ROTA as the Senior Policy Officer. Prior to this she worked at REAP for 8 years on various projects advocating and promoting the rights of refugees and asylum seekers.She has been involved in many pro-bono activities advocating and campaigning for equality rights both in the UK and in Sri Lanka. Having worked within the charity sector for the past 8 years, she has experience in project planning and delivery, event co-ordination, public relations and fund raising.
